Your situation is quite unfortunate. Your employer clearly saw you as a threat. She is obviously painfully insecure and most likely unattractive. I’m with Danica, SUE HER ASS OFF! I agree with “Mr. Fired”. You should consider suing her ass. I also believe that you shouldn’t socialize with your employer or even your co-workers. Good luck.

This sounds like some kind of a crazy love-triangle… Professionally speaking, if you were actually told that you were fired for this reason (e.g. being involved with the bartender), then this can be grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit. On a different level, however, your story just exemplifies why it’s important to keep your professional and personal lives separated!

If I were you, I would just let it go and consider it a blessing in disguise. Do you really want an alcoholic as a boss anyway? They tend to neglect their business anyway. I’m assuming your workplace might be on the way to extreme dysfunction. I wish you luck!
